Everyone was shocked by the news that a NTU student stabbed a professor at his back and committed suicide after some dispute over the student's project. This isn't the first time as similar case of campus assault happened at the NUS a few years back. However, this hair-raising incident may leave an indelible mark on those who are friends of this student and the educational body as a whole.
Every student does face a significant amount of stress when it comes to school work. Students nowadays have so many deadlines to meet and worry about that they forget what's happening around them. Studying is definitely important to everyone but we need to be able to handle stress well and not let stress engulfed us till we lose our true self. This is easily said than done but what we need is to ensure that we set our priorities right in studying and not lose heart even if we didn't do well in tests and exams.
Some advice to those who are having difficulties tackling stress:
- Break down the tasks you have to do into manageable parts, completing one at a time
- Talk to friends and family about how you’re feeling and coping with your studies
- eat healthily and have enough rest not forgetting exercising too
- Don’t put unrealistic pressure on yourself – no one is perfect all of the time
- Use relaxation techniques, such as taking slow, deep breaths.
- Praying:)
